Basically, the whole musical is the backstory on how the Wicked Witch of the West from "The Wizard of Oz" came to be. I won't spoil the intricate details for anyone who hasn't seen it before, but it tries to explain the relationship between the Wicked Witch, Glinda the Good Witch, and the Wizard (among others) and lays out a lot of the story before Dorothy even arrives from the twister.
It was nothing like I had expected, but at the same time it was really good! I guess I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I would have never dreamed up a plot like that. It hurt my head just trying to put the pieces together to figure out how it lined up with the original film. For those of you who are curious, you eventually find out how the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, the flying monkeys, and even the ruby red slippers came to be as well. And the girl who played Glinda just absolutely nailed that part. She was amazing!
Very interesting. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves good musicals.
While I was at Brittany's, I also got a chance to see Kyle again. He has grown so much since last time I saw him! But I guess that's what babies do, right?
And I got to spend some quality time with Kaitlyn. Brittany and I took her to the zoo on Saturday morning. Despite the windy cold weather, we had a good time. We got to see the elephants and the monkeys and a baby giraffe. She even got to hold a guinea pig! I think that she just gets more ornery every day. But I also think that she really enjoys hanging around with me. Kind of cool, don't you think?
